Customer Insights API description v2
API description
The “Customer Insights” API allows an API consumer to retrieve an operator-derived scoring result for a customer, where supported by the API provider and permitted under the applicable legal and consent framework.
The scoring result is based on the individual’s profile available to the telecom operator and is returned as a risk index. Scoring generation may require the customer to have a minimum tenure with the operator. This information can be used as an additional signal in financial risk assessment, credit application evaluation, microloan assessment, customer onboarding or financial inclusion journeys.
The API consumer can request the scoring information for a customer identified through the access token or, depending on the access mode and provider implementation, by phone number, identity document or a combination of both. The API returns the scoring type and the corresponding scoring value.
The API does not expose raw telecom behavioral data and does not make the final credit or onboarding decision. The API consumer remains responsible for combining the returned scoring result with its own risk models, decisioning policies and regulatory obligations.
This API provides:
A Retrieve Scoring function that allows an application to retrieve scoring information for a customer through
POST /scoring/retrieve.Support for different scoring scales, where available:
gaugeMetric: A score from 850, lowest risk, to 300, highest risk.veritasIndex: A score from 0, lowest risk, to 19, highest risk.
A standardized CAMARA interface that enables API consumers to use operator-derived scoring information as an additional risk signal in eligible financial and onboarding journeys.
Use Cases
Credit Application Assessment for thin-file Customers: Financial institutions can use Customer Insights as an additional risk signal when assessing customers with limited or no traditional credit history. The returned scoring value can complement the institution’s own credit risk model.
Microloan Risk Evaluation: Credit providers can use the API during microloan application flows to support faster and more informed risk assessment, especially in markets where many customers have limited access to formal financial services.
Credit Card Onboarding for underserved Customers: Banks or card issuers can use the operator-derived scoring result as one input when evaluating credit card applications from customers without a mature banking or credit profile.
Risk-based Onboarding of new Customers: Companies offering financial or credit-related services can use the scoring result to adapt onboarding flows, for example by approving low-risk cases faster, requesting additional checks, routing to manual review or declining high-risk applications.
Personalized financial Product Eligibility: Financial service providers can use the scoring result, together with their own customer data and policies, to determine whether a customer may be eligible for selected financial products or tailored offers.
